Purchasing Officer

Purchasing Officer required by Mechanical construction company in the west of Ireland,

Your new company

Due to continued expansion, our client requires a Mechanical Purchasing Procurement Engineer which will be based in the west of Ireland.

Role/Requirements
  • Mechanical Purchasing Officer required for construction projects
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a purchasing/buying role required - full training of in-house procedures/systems will be provided
  • Engineering experienced purchasing advantageous
  • Knowledge of / experience in the construction industry would be advantageous

Reporting to the General Manager, the Purchasing Officer’s primary responsibility is to work along side the Mechanical Engineers assisting with procurement/purchasing function within the business. Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Processing supplier invoices, identifying problem invoices, querying invoices with suppliers
  • Receiving and checking all deliveries
  • Carry out admin duties for procurement department
  • The Purchasing/Procurement officer will be responsible for the procuring goods and services, and plant and equipment (hired and owned)
  • Negotiate prices with suppliers
  • Identifying potential Suppliers and liaise with both new and existing suppliers to build and maintain good working relationships
  • Place orders with assigned suppliers at regular intervals and ensure the prompt delivery of these orders
  • Liaise with site management on material and plant requirements
  • Work closely with accounts payable and be a point of contact for AP queries
  • Perform monthly and ad-hoc analysis, projects and any other assigned tasks and duties as directed to support the team.
Requirements:
  • The individual will require previous experience of procurement and supply Chain management processes within a mechanical/construction, or a related sector
  • Possesses and demonstrates strong technical knowledge
  • An individual with good financial, commercial and analytical skills who has proven capability of managing his / her workload effectively
  • Well-developed negotiation skills are essential, with a track record of delivering value Purchasing, Purchasing Processes, Purchasing Administration
