Hays Recruitment are currently recruiting an experienced field instrument technician to join our client, a leading M+E facility management company based in Cork.

Position Summary
Instrument Field Technicians are part of the maintenance team which provides maintenance services to all the production facilities in the region. These services are primarily focused on practical work at the various production plants.
Instrument Field Technicians are responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, preventive maintenance and installation of control and instrumentation systems.
They also support construction activities for plant improvement projects, commissioning activities for new plants and additions to existing production plants.

This position is accountable for the following end results:

  1. To respond to any major occurrence of plant breakdown where control and instrumentation expertise is required, carry out prompt inspection, analyse the fault, repair and re-commission affected plant and equipment to assure the minimum loss of production.
  2. Support plants with maintenance according to the Plant Maintenance programme. This could range from routine maintenance or major overhaul maintenance. This will include working on maintenance shutdowns.
  3. Supervising contractors, ensuring that the work is adequately planned and executed safely at a high level of effectiveness.
  4. Give advice and assistance to Plant Managers and their staff on maintenance matters as requested, drawing when necessary upon the technical resources and expertise of specialist engineers.
  5. In association with the Maintenance Systems group, review and update the technical content of the preventive maintenance procedures and to recommend changes where improvements in safety, quality or economy may be affected.
  6. Provide as required, training tot the client, joint venture, and third-party personnel in maintenance practices.
