Mortgage Underwriter, leading Irish Bank, Dublin-based role

Your new company

Your new company is one of the leading Irish lenders with a strong brand within the mortgage market. You'll be working within the Mortgage Lending Unit, based in modern offices in the heart of Dublin city centre, within easy access to Luas, Dart and bus services. You will benefit from a hybrid working model, working from home 3 days per week.


Your new role


Your new role is working as a mortgage underwriter within the mortgage lending unit, a specialised department providing an independent dual sign off for home mortgage credit applications which come through to the bank through various customer channels. You will be assessing and recommending credit applications in line with the mortgage lending policies, processes and procedures. You will be working through a queue of cases and will be allocated a certain number of cases to assess on a daily basis. You will be interacting with other business areas to discuss the lending propositions and will provide tailored advice in each instance. Within this role you will be closely mentored by senior lenders within the bank and will get frequent feedback to ensure you develop and work towards achieving your own lending discretion.

What you'll need to succeed

You will need to have recent experience working as an underwriter within a home lending department. You will need to have a sound and up-to-date knowledge of credit regulations and policies, as well as be a fast-learner who is able to adapt in an environment where the lending policy can change. You will need to be able to interpret and understand complex credit cases and have evidence of providing informed advice and/or approval in relation to credit decisions.

What you'll get in return

You will be working on a 12-month assignment initially with the potential for this to be extended further. You will be paid on a weekly basis by Hays and will be working 37 hours per week Monday - Friday. You will be entitled to 23 paid annual leave days.
