Financial Controller job - Construction Industry - South Galway

Your new company

Your new company is a rapidly expanding construction company involved in mechanical engineering contracting on some of the largest private commercial infrastructural projects in Ireland. The company has achieved phenomenal success over the last decade or so, growing exponentially in that time with large contracts being secured nationwide. The company has forecast continued growth and requires an experienced Financial Controller to provide consultation to the Directors, put structures in place ahead of their next growth/scaling phase and build out a high-performing finance function.

Your new role

You will be the most senior finance professional within the business, having ultimate responsibility for the finance function and reporting on the financial and commercial performance of the company. You will lead a small finance team and implement processes around the month-end process, budgeting, cost controls, cashflow forecasting, market analysis, contracts analysis, payroll, year-end statutory reporting and the external audit process. There is a significant commercial element to the role also as you will be tasked with working with stakeholders across the business in order to achieve increased financial success.

What you'll need to succeed

You must be a fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CPA) preferably with experience in the construction industry or related fields (either through audit/practice experience or direct construction experience). You must be a commercially conscious professional with an intuitive understanding of the industry in relation to cost controls, profit margins and project management. You must have excellent communication and leadership skills as you will be required to translate complex financial information to non-finance professionals. You must also have a superb level of detail and the ability to lead and manage a team.

What you'll get in return

You will get a highly competitive base salary as well as access to a company pension scheme, as well as bonuses based on the company's commercial performance. You will gain the opportunity to be an integral part of a rapidly expanding construction company in the West of Ireland. You will also have the ability to implement your own ideas and put your own stamp on the success of a business.
