Health and Safety Officer required for prominent East Cork project

Your new company

This client is an accomplished construction company who are quickly expanding into different cities within Ireland.


Your new role

As a Health and safety officer, you will be responsible for all aspects of company safety and management systems. Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager and Director in charge, the main responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:

  • To maintain the company’s ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 accreditations and any future standards.

  • To instil a positive culture towards Health, Safety, Welfare, Quality and Environmental issues throughout the organisation.

  • Meeting all Health, Safety, Welfare, Quality and Environmental objectives laid down by management and to initiate aims and objectives from on-site experiences.

  • To investigate any accidents, incidents or near misses and to prepare a written report detailing corrective actions to be implemented to avoid reoccurrence.

  • Carryout monthly site audits as required of all live sites and agree action points with site management on any issues identified.

  • Carryout documented weekly, HSE, Fire safety, plant, etc. inspections.

  • Advise management of special risks on specific contracts. Ensure that there is appropriate action taken if any risks or Health & Safety breaches are observed.

  • To keep up to date with current legislation and best working methods and to disseminate this information throughout the company.

  • Prepare Construction Phase Health and Safety plans, Health & Safety file and Operational and Maintenance Manuals.

  • Any other reasonable duties to ensure smooth and efficient running of the health, safety, welfare, quality, and environmental functions within the company.


What you'll need to succeed

  • NEBOSH Construction Diploma or General Certificate.

  • At least 2 years’ experience within a HSQE focused role within construction.

  • Effective communication skills and ability to influence others.

  • Full Driving Licence.

  • Excellent organisations, communication, and time management skills.

  • A passion for Safety, Health, and Environment.

  • Strong IT skills in Microsoft.

  • Level 2 Investigation techniques.

  • First Aid Certificate.

  • Trainer Certificate.

  • Face fit tester (not essential).

  • Auditor or training qualifications.
