Financial Accountant job - Semi-State Body - Limerick - Newly Qualified

Your new company

Your new company is a well-renowned commercial semi-state body based in Limerick City and County Limerick who are responsible for some of the biggest public infrastructure projects in the Mid-west region. Despite being relatively small in terms of headcount with 55 staff currently employed here, the company facilitates trade valued at over €8.5 billion annually and is the second largest operationally within this sector in Ireland operating across numerous different sites in the region and supporting the growth of the sector commercially.

Your new role

Your new role will report directly to the Financial Controller and will primarily be focused on preparation of month-end management accounts, board reports, year-end statutory reporting and compliance, liaising with external auditors and managing the audit process as well as assisting internal audit reviews. You will also be given exposure to commercial and operational accounting, assisting the Financial Controller with relevant financial analysis, budgeting, forecasts and strategic planning. You will also be given the opportunity to assist and co-ordinate AP, AR, tax and payroll functions.

As the role progresses, there is also the opportunity to take a lead on various finance projects which will give you increased visibility and exposure across the business. Overall, this is a fantastic opportunity for a recently qualified accountant to gain incredible exposure, career progression opportunities and mentorship.


What you'll need to succeed

You will be a fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CPA) with 0-2 years PQE. Exposure to month-end management accounts and finalising accounts is seen as an advantage but not essential as the role is open to candidates coming directly from audit training contracts also. You will be an ambitious accountant with an eagerness to learn and develop your career with a demonstrated ability to be flexible and adaptable. You will also be eager to take on new tasks as required and display a strong commercially-focused outlook. Strong attention to detail and organisational skills are seen as essential as are excellent communication (both written and verbal) and analytical skills.
