12 month contract for a Senior Resident Engineer in Galway

Your new role

Our client is recruiting a Senior Resident Engineer based in Galway for a road project with an expected duration of approximately 12 months. The ideal candidate will have 10 years experience in industry, chartered and previous experience in a similar role. The successful candidate will cover all inspections and technical matters on site. Plus deal with contract matters assisting the ER and also deal with public liaison as required by the Contractor.

Works include:

  • Site clearance and enabling works
  • Full depth road and footpath construction
  • Road regulating and resurfacing works
  • Installation of bus stops and associated infrastructure
  • Upgrading of existing drainage and construction of new drainage,
  • Amendments to kerb lines, tie ins and footpaths,
  • Installation of 4 signalised pedestrian crossings,
  • Works to the existing Monivea Road junction,
  • Landscaping works,
  • Installation of new line marking and road markings along the route
  • Drainage works
  • Utility diversions
  • Public Lighting
  • All other ancillary work


What you'll need to succeed

You will hold a degree in Civil / Structural Engineering or similar qualifications. Chartered Engineer with 10+ years experience on Civil Works, ideally Urban Roadworks & Active Travel or equivalent. Supervision of contractors’ work and ensuring that material specifications, workmanship, quality control and health and safety aspects for all works are in compliance with the contract requirements and regulations. Provide on-site technical assistance. Inspection of drawings, documents and reports, on-site safety, security and general housekeeping. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong numerical skills and problem solving abilities. Good planning and organisational skills. A full Irish driving licence is required.
