A family run hotel in the south of Dublin city are hiring an Assistant Financial Controller who is keen to progress to Financial Controller of the hotel. This is a 4 star hotel with an excellent reputation for corporate events and very long tenure with their staff, including in the finance team.

This is an office based role with working hours of 8 - 4.30pm but there can be flexibility on the working hours. Experience as an accountant in a hotel/hospitality setting is must-have for this role.

Your new role

Reporting directly to the FC who splits their time between the hotel and another site , you will manage a team of 3 people and act as Financial Controller on the ground in the hotel.

Your duties and responsibilities will include:

• Month end close to include preparing and posting journals, preparing prepayments and accruals and nominal ledger recs
• Maintain Fixed Asset Register and, updating for all additions and disposals.
• Preparation of monthly reports and reconciliations on Opera ledger and Excel, detailed monthly analysis and management reporting
• Prepare budget and reviewing ongoing budgeting process
• Build relations with Heads of Departments to facilitate budget and costs discussions
• Review debtors ledger and creditors reconciliations
• Review credit card queries and approve new credit checks
• Review analysis of coding on purchase invoicing
• Maintain and update records, reports and analysis on Excel.
• Review and approve monthly payment run
• Bank reconciliations
• Cash management

A lot of the work is still done manually on Excel so you will need to have strong Excel skills and ok with manual work in some areas.

What you'll need to succeed

• You will need to be an experienced accountant with experience in a hotel/hospitality setting in Ireland

• Ideally you will have experience with Opera, Alchemy & Sage systems
• Very strong Excel - vlookups, pivots, sumif, conditional formatting etc
• This is a fully office based role, so you must be happy with this - hybrid working is not available for this role

What you'll get in return

You will be rewarded with a salary of €75,000 but exceptional candidates with extensive hotel industry experience as an accountant will be considered with higher salary expectations. The benefits include a 20% KPI bonus, free parking and all meals on-site are provided. You can also benefit from flexibility on the working hours. This role is lined up to take over the FC role so career progression is on the cards here.
