A Health & Safety Officer is required by a contractor in the north-west region.

Your new company

Large specialist electrical contractor with projects nationwide across the north-west region. They are now seeking an H&S Officer to work on multiple sites. You will implement and maintain the company's Health & Safety systems for the projects. The role is to coordinate all H&S matters within various teams and to report constructively all H&S matters to the Project Manager.
  • The H&S Officer will be site based and will ensure that the H&S management systems for all the projects under their stewardship are implemented and maintained.
  • Provide advice, guidance, instruction and training on all H&S matters to management, safety representatives and employees (including where applicable to subcontractors, suppliers and visitors to sites).
  • Provide leadership and coordination of the day-to-day H&S requirements of the projects.
  • Carry out audits, inspections & incident investigation reports, establishes corrective and preventive actions to prevent re-occurrence and continuous improvements.
  • Prepare in conjunction with the site teams H&S plans, RAMS and other associated site documents.
  • Participate in site meetings, report on business H&S risks, trends and recommend constructive actions towards continuous improvements.
What you'll need to succeed
  • 2+ years’ experience in a similar industry. Knowledge of Electrical and/or Mechanical works is preferable, but general construction experience will be considered also.
  • Experience of construction in Ireland
  • Experience with Construction Regulations & roles, and experience working with subcontractors.
  • Experience with ISO paperwork
  • Diploma / Degree in a relevant H&S course
  • Safe Pass
  • Full Driving Licence
  • Ability to work with client / main contractor Safety and Project teams.
  • Proactive in identifying positive and negative acts, ability to follow through with realistic corrective and preventive actions.
  • Up to date with Legislation, Guidance, Advice and Compliance.
  • IT Proficient – Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and E-Mail
