Practice Accountant Job, Team Manager - €75,000 + €10k Bonus, Hybrid Working Dublin South

Your new company

A medium-sized accountancy practice with about 70 employees and a large establish client base are looking to add a fully qualified accountant to their team in a very broad Manager role. It's an exciting time to join the firm as they restructure their teams, meaning you can put your own stamp on this role.

Your new role

You will report into a long-standing director and manage a team of 5 people (2 bookeepers, 2 trainees and 1 Senior). With the large portfolio you will be working on, you will look after all of your clients' needs - this means it is a broad and varied role consisting of monthly management accounts, year end accounts, consulting projects - eg. due diligence, property sales tec as well as tax compliance. Working in a close knit team means that whatever business and projects come through the practice, you get to be involved in, giving you great exposure and career growth. It's the type of role that is ever-changing and every day can offer something new to learn.

People management will be a key focus for this role. You will be responsible for managing staff, training staff, resolving team queries, mentoring junior staff and reviewing their work, whilst still providing support the Director and taking on more complex matters yourself.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Management of the team to ensure compliance with all legislation and internal achievement of standards
  • Planning of assignments to ensure all deadlines are met
  • Reviewing the work of trainees to develop their skillsets and delivery of completed files for director review
  • Liaising with directors in appraisal of firms’ objectives and delivery of client services
  • Monthly management accounts
  • Year end accounts and financial statement preparation, largely FRS102
  • Tax compliance preparations - VAT, CT, RCT, VIES etc
  • Audit file preparation
  • Consulting projects as required, eg. due diligence for company sale or assisting clients with buying a property
  • Cash flow projections
  • Understanding clients' needs, assessing key risks to their business and developing value-add solutions while providing first class customer services
  • Maximising profitability on clients and building long standing relationships
  • Assist with ongoing business development activities within the firm and in particular identifying opportunities arising from assurance clients
  • Identify areas for improvement in company processes and systems


What you'll need to succeed

  • You must be a fully qualified accountant with 5 years' experience in practice, with at least 2 of those years' experience in an Irish practice
  • As this is a broad role, you will ideally have worked in a varied accounting role as opposed to purely audit focused positions in practice (monthly and yearly accounts prep experience required).
  • Strong technical knowledge of FRS101/102
  • Strong knowledge and experience of Irish CT, VAT, PAYE and RCT
  • People management experience and a passion for developing junior staff

In return, you will benefit from a salary of up to €75,000 plus a €10,000 KPI bonus, 20 days annual leave and hybrid working. You will be based in the office 3 days per week and can work from home 2 days per week, with flexible start and finish times available to you also. You will get a really broad exposure in this role, working on everything that comes up for all of the clients in your portfolio. You will also have the support of a long standing Director who has buckets of knowledge to share and is passionate about developing their team, yourself included.
